Episode 1 - Bridging Law and Technology: AI in Criminal Procedure and the Landmark CJEU Decision
In this episode, FRC members Juraj Sajfert and Andreas Kanakakis introduce us to the PROMODE project (Modernising the Codes of Criminal Procedure on Digital Investigative Methods), which aims at combining the languages of criminal procedural law, human rights law and data protection law with regard to novel methods for crime investigations. They take the chance to shed some light on the recently adopted EU AI Act and focus on the integration of Artificial Intelligence in Criminal Procedure. Lastly, they set out to comment the recent landmark decision of the Court of Justice of the EU on case C-670/22, which attempted to address issues related to the issuance and execution of European Investigation Orders and the admissibility of evidence acquired thereof.
