Description
This research (completed in Jarnuary 2024) forms part of the background material for FRA’s report on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) which will focus on the right to political participation of persons with disabilities under Article 29 of the CRPD.
The research provided the FRA with data and information on how people with disabilities are able to exercise their right to vote and the right to stand for elections across in the EU, including how the current situation compares with the obligations set out in Article 29 of the CRPD, Articles 21, 26, 39 and 40 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU, and Article 20 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
