Olga Kavran
Biography
Olga Kavran is a Fellow at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel completing a PhD on the topic of international criminal courts’ obligation to provide information to the public, and the Founding Director of IUSTICOM, established in 2021 as the first non-governmental organisation dedicated to communicating justice.
From 2010-2020, Olga was the Head of Outreach and Legacy at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). Prior to the STL, she had worked at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in various positions – as a translator (1997-2000), Outreach Deputy Coordinator (2000-2006) and Spokesperson for the Prosecutor (2006-2010). Her career began in Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising where she received a number of awards. Olga also has an LLM in public international law with a specialisation in international criminal law from Leiden University in The Netherlands; has taught at the American University of Beirut, as well as several other universities in Lebanon, the former Yugoslavia, the United States and the United Kingdom; and has published extensively on international criminal courts and proceedings.
