FRC Member, Katrien Keyaerts, and one of the FRC directors, prof. Paul De Hert, have just published a new article entitled "Europees Hof Rechten van de Mens en politie 2019. Thematische bespreking EVRM-rechtspraak" on Politie & Recht.
This contribution contains an overview of the most notable case law from the European Court of Human Rights about police in the year 2019. The overview is thematic, based on the main topics featured in the cases discussed, such as police conduct during arrests, detentions, and interrogations; the right to remain silent and access to an attorney; law enforcement during public gatherings; surveillance, search and seizure; the principle of ne bis in idem.
