Lisa Feirabend

Lisa Feirabend is a researcher connected to the Fundamental Rights Research Centre (FRC). She holds an LL.M in Public International Law from Leiden University. Prior to joining the VUB, Lisa was a legal officer at the UN International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, both in The Netherlands and Tanzania, where she also served as Alternate Focal Point for Women. Previously, Lisa coordinated a legal aid programme for refugees with Asylum Access Thailand and worked on transitional justice and post-conflict development issues in Uganda. She has previously published on the topic of effective defence before the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

Lisa is currently preparing a doctoral thesis which considers the issue of street harassment and the effectiveness of related legislation, with a particular focus on the anti-street harassment frameworks of Belgium, The Netherlands and France.

Lisa is also attached to the Law, Science, Technology & Society (LSTS) Research Group where she works on issues such as data protection, privacy and ethics and, in connection thereto, contributes to the EU Horizon 2020 funded TeNDER Project (affecTive basEd iNtegrateD carE for betteR Quality of Life).
