Description
The aim of this research proposal (1/01/11 - 31/12/14) is to analyse the dynamics of relations of (extreme) institutional dependency and the influence of human rights standards and legislation on these relations. It will focus on two case studies, health care institutions and prisons, through an integration of different scientific disciplines: human rights, legal theory, sociology of law, criminology, forensic psychology, end of life care and decisions, oncology. In doing so, it will bring together the expertise of different VUB-research teams in a true attempt at integrated interdisciplinary research about a very timely subject matter of high social, legal, ethical and medical pertinence.
