On 25th June 2021, FRC member, Carlotta Rigotti, will present her PhD research during the 2021 PhD Workshop of the Criminal Justice Centre (School of Law, Queen Mary University of London).
The presentation will highlight new insights emerging from Carlotta’s PhD research on the legal feasibility of criminalising the abuse of woman-like sex robots, as being requested by the Campaign against Sex Robots since 2015. Through this main case-study, Carlotta will explore the legal qualification of sex robots in criminal law and what potentially counts as their sexual abuse. Building on these research outcomes, the presentation will then ask other important questions that still remain to be answered about the legitimacy of criminalising this sexual activity and alternative approaches to criminalisation.
Due to the lockdown measures against the Covid-19 pandemic, teh eveny will take place online from 8.45-17 (UK time).
