The Third Bulletin of the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) analyses how the EU Member States addressed the Covid-19 pandemic between 1 May – 31 May 2020. In particular, this edition focuses on the elderly’s fundamental rights concerns, as Governments are gradually lifting some measures against Covid-19. Indeed, institutional settings have experienced high rates of infection and death from the infectious disease; while, at present, elderly people face additional challenges, such as accessing Covid-19 tests and other unrelated health services.
Against this background, the fundamental rights implications of the measures taken by the Belgian government, in place since 18 March 2020, have been closely monitored too. The Belgian report, compiled by FRC as national contractor for the FRA, provides a further analysis and assessment of the fundamental rights impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
